sweet smooth sassy

Image
1957 Chevrolet SWEET  (just look!) SMOOTH  (ah, that Turbolide!) SASSY  (just drive it!) This is the car that's fresher and friskier from its own special look to its new Ramjet fuel injection! Those words — sweet, smooth and sassy — seem to fit this new Chevy right down to its tubeless tires. In the first place, it looks the part, it has a crisp, alert appearance — as trim and functional as an arrow. You can tell that the styling isn't just going along for the ride. It's right in keeping with Chevrolet's own special fresh and frisky ways. And this is one car that looks as good close up os it does across the street. It's built the way you've come to expert a Chevrolet to built. Everything in it fits beautifully — including you! But a Chevy isn't just something that's nice to look at. Far from it. This beauty was meant for driving — and it knows it! Give a Chevrolet a gentle hint with your toe, and it responds with spunk and spirit and sureness! You can

How do you build in balance?

Image
1957 Chevrolet HOW DO YOU BUILD IN BALANCE? Fifty-fifty weight distribution is the automobile designer's aim — and his nightmare! It's easy to understand why: Balancing the weight equally between front and rear wheels is fundamental if you want stability and sure-footed control on curves and solid driving traction at the rear. But (and this is the joker) the passenger space has to be ahead of the rear axle if you want a soft rear seat ride and full rear seat hip room. On most cars, that means too much weight on the front wheels. But not in Chevrolets. For example, a Chevrolet "Two-Ten" four-door sedan with Turboglide has from 207 to 240 pounds less dead weight on the front end than comparable cars in the low-price field. That makes a big difference in handling ease and road security. It explains why Chevy's steering is so light and precise, why its traction is better (light rear ends tend to spin and skid under power thrust). It is the basic engineering principl

Fresher than springtime!  Gayer than the first bright flowers! A realist might say that a young lady is more likely to arouse thoughts of love than an automobile. But it would be obvious to the informed that a realist with such a literal outlook had never commanded a new Motoramic Chevrolet with a "Turbo-Fire V-8" (or with one of the new 6's) under its bonnet! For here is an experience in plus-power that will delight the senses as fully as the long, low lines of the new Chevrolet will delight the eye...  There are many new features about the new Chevrolet that the cold-minded will embrace with all the logic and reason at their command... just as Chevrolet's fresh styling and gay colors and great power will send the fanciful soaring! 1940 Buick

Image
Weep no more, my Lady! HERE'S BIG CAR YOU CAN DRIVE! The theory was that to be truly spacious a car had to be bulky - and wrestling around a great big hulk of an automobile is no fun for any woman. Then along came the Buick LIMITED, stretching close to eighteen feet at the curb, tipping the scales at better than two tons, swinging wide its doors on interiors big enough to hold a tea party in. Now that's a big car - but you'd never know it at the wheel. Your slipper's weight on the treadle is law to its 141 well-mannered horsepower and a toe-touch on its brakes brings instant, unquestioning obedience. You pilot it, park it without tugging or hauling, and you shift through its whispering gears with a few easy flicks of your fingers. Meantime you luxuriate. In deep, soft Foamtex cushions that are like seafoam solidified - in room that's delicious flattery to your ego - amid appointments perfect in taste, sumptuous in finish. 1972 Chevrolet Nova

Image
Motor Trend Magazine has named the'72 Rally Nova "Compact Car of the Year." Maybe it was the stripes? It takes more than style and stripes to win a Motor Trend award. Did you know, for example, that the Motor Trend staff tested over 100 cars from all over the world before finally selecting this year's seven winners? Tested them thoroughly. Compared performance, features, strengths, weaknesses. Took a close look at workmanship. Dug deep. Discussed. Then voted. We're delighted that our Rally Nova was a winner. Motor Trend calls it "the happy culmination of what's happened with the Nova in the past seven years." True. And we appreciate the kind words. But at the same time, you can be sure we're going to keep finding ways to make Nova an even better car. Because we want your new Nova to be the best car you ever owned. Stripes and all. Other cars wish the SS396 didn't offer a4-speed or a 3-range Turbo Hydra-matic transmission. And other car wish the stock SS396 didn't give you power disc brakes, beefed-up suspension, F70x14 white-lettered wide ovals and 7"-wide sport wheels.
